We treat more than you think!

Osteo awareness week was 14th-20th April and gave us an opportunity to showcase just how wonderful and amazing our profession is. In case you missed it or haven’t been enlightened to osteopathy here’s an overview.

Osteopathy Australia states that “Osteopaths are allied health professionals that offer patient-centred approaches to healthcare and functional improvement which recognise the vital link between the structure of the body and the way it functions. Osteopaths focus on how the skeleton, joints, muscles, nerves, circulation, connective tissue and internal organs function as a holistic unit.”

This approach enables osteopaths to find the source of pain and discomfort and go to work trying to alleviate it knowing the symptoms may abate.

In Australia, osteopaths are government registered practitioners who complete minimum accredited university training in anatomy, physiology, pathology, general healthcare diagnosis, and osteopathic techniques.

There are 2,500 registered Osteopath’s in Australia, compared with 5,500 Chiropractor’s, and 33,000 Physiotherapist’s.

We treat more than you think! From soft tissue injuries or aches, headaches, sprained joints (ankles, wrist) pregnancy related pain, jaw pain, repetitive strains (such as tennis or golfers elbow), sciatica, hip pain, poor posture, as well as back and neck related problems.

We can work together with you to construct a plan to achieve your goals, whether that’s to ease yourself of long term pain so you can participate in life, to recover from a pre-existing sporting injury, to return your child’s posture from it’s slouched position from being engrossed in electronic devices, or to wake up from a nights sleep muscle ache free.

So if you’re suffering from a musculoskeletal ache, pain or injury – why not give osteo a go?
